I may have mentioned previously that I’m working on a few ideas for the garden.
My Castelgarden lawnmower is criminally overdue a service and when it comes to petrol lawnmowers, there’s two ways to do it.
First option – get someone else to do it. That part should be pretty self-explanatory.
Second option – do it yourself. This is where it gets a little more interesting.
With my own lawnmower overdue a service by a good six or seven years, and spying it’s getting dirty and weathered, it makes for a good time to figure out how to do this stuff myself.
If you’re curious, this video is a decent start.

Briggs & Stratton?
In my case, I’ve got a Castelgarden XC 48 BSW4 mower. The manufacturer’s label on the side of the mower tells me it’s a 2015 purchase, so I’m not far off in the seven-year territory. The service schedule was never adhered to and while it still cuts, it just about chugs along, is rusted, chipped, could definitely do with sharpening, a cleanout of the fuel tank and the rest. It’s fitted with a Briggs & Stratton 500E series
While I await a new air filter and fuel siphon pump from Amazon, this video also comes in handy.
