Three or four years back, I started using IMDB to track films I was watching.
I had been hoping at the time to watch enough films to fill the year, going for an average of one a week. I think at first attempt I topped out at 70.
2018 fell and 2019 floundered, TV and Netflix episode binges taking over.
For Christmas 2019/January 2020 I managed a ‘January Movie Marathon’ – 32 movies in 31 days, but with night shifts for a newborn, it turned out to be fairly straight forward.
Like the annual toss-up between FIFA and PES, my attention for 2021 goes back to movies, again with the intention of averaging one a week over the course of the year. I’m fairly sure I can find 90 minutes or so a week to squeeze in a film.
Whatever about TV, sitting down to a film (preferably a good one) is one of the most enjoyable things I can do. Barring a special invite screening of Wolfwalkers last year, thanks to the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic, it’s well over a year since I’ve been able to catch something in the cinema. I don’t think that’s going to change any time soon either so it’s movie time at home for 2021.11
At time of writing, there’s a handful in the bag so far, and it’s a fairly mixed bag: Jumanji – The Next Level, The Gentlemen, Greyhound, Ronin, Self/Less and The Midnight Sky.
That’s enough to balance me out for the next month anyway.
