The Duffer Brothers have a lot to answer for.
By the time I got hooked on Stranger Things, the show was three seasons deep. When we eventually got The Princess home from the hospital in December 2019, alternating sleep arrangements meant I got to watch a lot of 3am TV, including each of seasons 1-3 of Stranger Things.
This was a proper binge. And then nothing.
Two years later and we’ve finally got some new footage of Season 4.
The premise for season 4
“It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins”, say the official liners.
“Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time – and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.”
When is Stranger Things Season 4 released?
There’s one caveat to season four – it’s coming in two parts.
Stranger Things Season 4: Volume 1 gets an official Netflix drop on 27 May. The second volume is set to drop on 1 July, almost three years to the date of the season three premiere.
What we do know is that a fifth season has been mooted and is set to be the final season, unless season four turns into a wildcard and everything wraps up in the volume two drop.
Time for a Stranger Things rewatch
At time of writing there are 44 days until the release of the new season.
Given there were eight episodes in each of seasons one and three and nine in season two, you think I could find 25 days out of 44 to squeeze in an episode a night.
